Chasing Horizons

Welcome aboard !

The Boat

Built in 1982 the Canadian Sailcraft 36 Traditional, aka CS 36T is well build boat with a full fiberglass hull and a Balsa core deck. She is has a Length overall of 36.5 ft and Beam of 11.5ft.  Mine is a shoal draft version of 4’11 feet.

Designed by Raymon Wall, CS 36 is still one of the most popular boats build by Canadian Sailcraft, these boats were in production from 1978 to 1987. With a displacement of 15,500lbs and Keel weight of 6,650lbs these boats are good offshore sailing vessels. Thought company filed for bankruptcy in the early 90’s CS 36 boats are well loved in within Canada and North America.

My boat has sailed from Ontario, Canada to the Bahamas twice by previous owners  to enjoy the turquoise water, white sandy beaches and a constant flow of Sun downers .

My Story

Chasing Horizons Sailing
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site. My name is Lakith and I plan to document my journey and experiences while Sailing Lake Ontario and beyond.

Born in Sri Lanka, the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, I migrated to Canada over 20 years ago.  I’m an average dude from Ontario, Canada with a love for travel , adventure and anything to do with water.

My ultimate goal:
To #sail around the world. But let’s break it down. Life has thought me to break my goals to bite size, attainable pieces. So this year, 2021! my plan is to sail as much as possible, explore lake Ontario and its Thousand Islands. Slowly refit my #boat to become a Blue Water cruiser.
