Lake Ontario Sailing – Kingstons to Wolfe Island

Lake Ontario Sailing - Kingstons to Wolfe Island

On this episode we sail to Wolfe Island, the largest island of the the Thousand islands located on lake Ontario in Canada. Wolf Island is a special spot for me, it was my first ever solo sail and houses one of the most beautiful beaches , the anchorage of Big Sandy Bay. But unfortunately due to wind conditions we ended sailing and anchoring at the North East side of the island .

For this trip I have jerry rigged one 100W solar panel as this was the first over night trip with 2 social media engaged adults.

We sailed into the North side of the island rite by where they were building the new ferry terminal. Definitely not your secluded cove but we took advantage of the bars that were a quick dinghy ride away. It had a live band playing throughout the weekend and served some good food.

First night we went to shore to the restaurant for celebratory beer and to walk our beloved Golden Retriever “Brody”.
Back at the boat Kam as always ended up making Chicken Curry and Carrots over rice. Just what was needed to wrap up a great day of Sailing adventures.
Second day started with stubborn outboard which refused to start for the remainder of the trip. We ended up rowing to shore to take Brody for a walk and grabbing lunch at the restaurant  in-front of the General Wolfe Inn. During our lunch we found out that they restaurant and the Inn owned its brand new dock which we can use for just $1 per feet. In our case a nominal fee of 36 Canadian dollars.  This was great news since our dinghy motor broke and we had to bring Brody ashore few times to his business.

After lunch we rowed our way back to the boat and went for an afternoon dip, prior to motoring our to the Restaurant dock.
Wind were predicted to increase to high 20’s over night with thunder showers. The night was spend eating , chatting and laughing .

On our way back we got 15-20knows of winds which made for a some amazing sailing. Make sure you watch the episode below to enjoy the full story.
